1. Overview of Data Practices
This Data Use Policy explains in detail how the WeAD platform collects, stores, processes, and utilizes data across our services. It supplements our Privacy Policy by providing a technical breakdown of specific data types, storage mechanisms, and their purposes within the WeAD ecosystem.
We adhere to industry standards set by the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI), Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA), and EU data protection guidelines for advertising platforms. Our approach is built on the principles of transparency, purpose limitation, and data minimization.
3. Blockchain Data
As a Web3 platform, certain data interactions occur on public blockchains. This data has unique properties compared to traditional data storage:
- Public Wallet Addresses — Your BNB Chain wallet address is visible on the public blockchain. While pseudonymous, it is publicly queryable via block explorers (e.g., BscScan).
- Token Balances — Your WEAD token balance is read directly from the BEP-20 smart contract on BNB Chain via
balanceOf()calls. This data is publicly accessible. - Transaction History — All WEAD token transfers, campaign funding events, and ad viewing contract interactions are permanently recorded on the public ledger.
- Smart Contract State — Campaign parameters, reward distributions, and other contract state data are stored on-chain and are publicly auditable.
Important: Blockchain data is immutable and cannot be deleted. We cannot modify or remove on-chain data. This is a fundamental characteristic of decentralized blockchain technology.
4. Location Data
Location data is a critical component of the WeAD advertising ecosystem, enabling targeted ad delivery and Microtiser verification. Here is how we handle location data:
4.1 Collection Methods
- GPS/Wi-Fi Positioning — Collected only with your explicit opt-in consent via the browser's Geolocation API. Used for proximity-based ad targeting and Microtiser location verification.
- IP-Based Geolocation — Approximate geographic region derived from your IP address. Used for general service localization (no explicit consent required, based on legitimate interest).
4.2 How Location Data is Used
- Advertiser Location Zones — Advertisers define geographic targeting zones for their campaigns. Your location is matched against these zones to deliver relevant ads.
- Microtiser Verification — GPS data confirms that Microtisers are displaying ads in the designated campaign locations to earn rewards.
- Anonymized Heatmap Data — Aggregated and anonymized location data may be used to generate heatmaps showing ad display density and coverage. No individual user can be identified from heatmap data.
4.3 Location Data Controls
You can control location data collection at any time:
- Revoke browser location permission in your browser settings.
- Disable GPS on your device.
- Note: Disabling location may limit certain features, such as location-based ad targeting and Microtiser earnings verification.
5. Analytics & Performance Data
We collect analytics data to understand platform usage and improve our services. This data includes:
- Page Views & Navigation — Which pages you visit and how you navigate through the Platform.
- Feature Usage — Which features you interact with (campaigns, analytics, sponsorships, etc.).
- Performance Metrics — Page load times, error rates, and API response times to ensure Platform reliability.
- Campaign Analytics — Impression counts, interaction rates, and display durations for advertising campaigns.
Analytics data is processed internally and is not shared with third-party analytics platforms. We do not use Google Analytics or similar third-party tracking services.
6. How Data Improves the Platform
The data we collect is actively used to enhance your experience and the overall platform:
- Ad Relevance — Location and interaction data help match users with the most relevant advertising campaigns, improving the experience for both advertisers and Microtisers.
- Fraud Detection — Usage patterns, device data, and location verification help us identify and prevent fraudulent activity such as fake ad views, GPS spoofing, and bot interactions.
- Earnings Calculation — Interaction data, location verification, and display duration are used to accurately calculate Microtiser token rewards through smart contract logic.
- Platform Optimization — Performance data helps us optimize load times, fix bugs, and improve the overall user experience.
- Campaign Effectiveness — Aggregated campaign data helps advertisers understand their ROI and optimize future campaigns.
7. Advertiser Data Practices
If you are an advertiser on the WeAD Platform, here is how data works in the context of your campaigns:
- Aggregated Campaign Metrics — You receive aggregated performance data including total impressions, interaction rates, geographic distribution, and cost metrics. This data is anonymized and cannot be used to identify individual users.
- No Personal User Data — Advertisers never receive personal information about individual users who view or interact with their ads. You cannot access names, emails, wallet addresses, or precise locations of individual users.
- Targeting Data — Campaign targeting uses location zones and demographic categories. The matching process occurs server-side; advertisers define targeting parameters but do not access the underlying user data used for matching.
- Billing Data — Campaign funding and billing data is recorded both on-chain (WEAD token transactions) and in our internal systems for accounting purposes.
8. User Controls
You have several ways to manage your data on the WeAD Platform:
- Manage Profile — Update your name, country, and other profile information through your Profile page.
- Disconnect Wallet — Disconnect your MetaMask wallet from the Platform at any time. This removes the wallet association from your account but does not affect on-chain data.
- Delete Account — Request full account deletion by contacting wead@viewfi.live. This removes all off-chain personal data within 30 days.
- Clear Local Storage — Clear your browser's local storage to remove all cached data. You can do this through your browser's developer tools or settings.
- Revoke Google Access — Revoke WeAD's access to your Google account through your Google Account permissions.
- Location Controls — Manage location permissions through your browser and device settings.
9. Data Minimization Principles
WeAD follows data minimization principles in accordance with GDPR Article 5(1)(c) and industry best practices:
- Collect Only What's Needed — We only collect data that is necessary for providing our services. We do not collect data "just in case" or for undefined future purposes.
- Purpose Limitation — Data collected for one purpose is not repurposed without your knowledge and consent.
- Storage Limitation — Data is retained only as long as necessary. Session data, interaction data, and authentication tokens have defined expiry periods.
- Access Controls — Internal access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis.
- Anonymization — Where possible, data is aggregated and anonymized to remove personal identifiers while retaining analytical value.
10. Aggregated & Anonymized Data
We may create aggregated and anonymized datasets from platform data for the following purposes:
- Industry Research — Understanding trends in micro-advertising, outdoor digital advertising, and Web3 ad effectiveness.
- Platform Development — Informing feature development and product roadmap decisions.
- Public Reporting — Sharing anonymized statistics about platform growth, ad effectiveness, and ecosystem health with the community.
Aggregated data cannot be used to identify individual users. It is processed in a way that individual data points are indistinguishable from the aggregate. This data may be shared publicly or with partners without restriction, as it does not constitute personal data.
